Keep it Simple
The health of your mouth directly correlates with the health of the rest of your body, and it’s always best to know exactly what you are putting into your body. These days, many products have an overwhelming number of ingredients, most of them virtually unpronounceable — a good rule of thumb is that if you don’t know what it is, stay away from it. Aside from eliminating a major amount of fluoride from your body, this all natural toothpaste is super easy to make… it only takes three ingredients. THREE! The taste is an adjustment, but I quickly grew to love it, and my teeth actually feel cleaner and fresher than ever with this easy recipe!
Organic, raw coconut oil
Essential oil of your choice (peppermint, spearmint, or cinnamon, for example)
A small glass jar for storage
You can make as much as you want, but I like to make small amounts at a time so it’s always fresh. Here’s how:
Spoon a couple scoops of coconut oil into the glass jar – melt it down by setting it on a warm stove. Add 1-2 teaspoons of baking soda and 12-15 drops essential oil. Mix it all up. Taste it. The baking soda should not be too overpowering, but there should be enough to clean your teeth, so add more if you think it’s not strong enough.
Voila! Simple as that.
If you’re worried about plaque (the major reason why fluoride is present in most toothpaste), add oil pulling to your routine – a thousand-year-old practice of oral health in India & Asia. Simply swish two tablespoons of coconut oil in your mouth for 20 minutes, once or twice per week. Add a few drops of clove essential oil for added benefits. Research shows that oil pulling helps heal and cure tooth decay, heal bleeding gums, naturally whiten your teeth, strengthen jaw muscles, and overall, deeply cleanse your mouth & freshen breath.
These simple habits will make a world of difference for your health.
