“What is a mala and how do I use it?”

Malas are traditionally used for repeating mantras in meditation, symbolizing a spiritual connection. They have been used for thousands of years in various ways across cultures. The common thread is their symbolism of living intentionally and inspiring connection with Divine Spirit, whether you like to call that God, the Universe or something else… it’s that recognition that we are simply part of a larger web of life, that we are all connected, and that there is an energy greater than ourselves holding it all together… an energy we can trust for guidance.

I started making jewelry when I was a young girl, following in my mother’s footsteps.

I loved the creativity involved, and working with my hands. I’ve always loved the self-expression involved in getting dressed everyday, which includes clothing and accessories. When I fell in love with yoga – and soon after, teaching yoga – my love for jewelry making came back into my life… in the form of mala beads. It’s a beautiful mindfulness practice for me… something that requires my full attention. Every mala I create is infused with my love and passion for yoga, art, healing, and spirituality.

Yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and mala beads all have one thing in common – living with intention.

All of these things involve the desire to raise our awareness in order to live our happiest lives and be the highest, best version of ourselves possible everyday.

You can use your mala in meditation, or just wear it daily as a symbol of your current intentions in life. I only use organic materials and semi-precious stones. All of my designs are 100% original and every mala is slightly different, making them all one-of-a-kind.

When choosing a mala, I suggest allowing your intuition to guide you – which one are you drawn to?

Start there, and then research the stones to see what they symbolize. Often you will resonate with what you learn about the stones after choosing the mala…

With spring approaching quick, the energy in the air is fresh… it’s all about renewal, welcoming change, cleansing out the old, and inviting in a bright, new perspective.

Acceptance is a powerful practice of embracing whatever situation life gives you.

When we can learn to find something positive in even the most challenging situations, we set ourselves up for success. In this meditation we will journey together into embracing life. You will connect deeply with your body and breath and develop awareness of the powerful mind-body connection.
